The copper-alloy core of a plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander dating to AD 224 (Reece period 11). P M TR P III COS P P reverse type depicting Pax standing left with branch and sceptre. As Mint of Rome. cf. RIC IV, p. 73, no. 40.
There were three plated copies of this type in the Shapwick Hoard cf. p. 233, no. 1552 which indicates that this may have been a coin that was regularly copied.
