An incomplete cast copper alloy brooch of uncertain type, of Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 200). Less than 25% of the brooch is present, consisting only of the catch plate. The bow, wings, head, spring and pin are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The brooch fragment is sub triangular in plan, with an folded edge along one side. The opposite side has a rounded edge. File marks are present. It measures 26.37 mm in length, 4.14 mm wide and 10.32 mm thick. It weighs 2.4 g. An incomplete copper alloy, probable Aesica style brooch, of Early Roman dating (AD 70 to AD 100). Around 25% of the probable brooch is present, consisting of a sub triangular fragment. The probable brooch fragment starts off wide and then gradually tapers into an incomplete circular section bow. Two sub oval recesses, positioned next to each other, are present as decoration at the top of the brooch. These may or may not have originally held enamel.
