An incomplete cast circular copper alloy heraldic horse harness pendant, of Medieval dating (13th to 15th Centuries AD). The pendant is sub oval in plan, and irregular in cross section. Originally it was probably of an circular shape (although it could have been shield shaped), with an integrally cast suspension loop at the top of the pendant. No traces of enamel are present on the surface of the pendant. From examination of the surface, it is possible that the external surface was divided up into six equal sections, with a horizontal divison between top and bottom sections. A complete enamelled copper alloy harness fitting of medieval dating, probably 14th century. The object is a flat sub-rectangular banner from an elaborate set. Along one long edge is an integral hollow cylindrical shaft, allowing it to be pushed over an a vertical rod. The banner is decorated on both faces with three fleur-de-lys on a red enamel background (see below for some speculation on the form of these fleurs-de-lys).
