An incomplete probable copper alloy corpus (body of Christ) from a crucifix, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500). Around 25% of the corpus figurine is present, with only the head, neck, torso and upper arms present. The lower arms, hands, abdomen, legs and feet are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The cross, which the corpus would have been mounted on, is no longer present. The corpus consists of the body of Christ, with arms held straight out to either side, head tilted to the left and slightly forward of the arms and shoulders. The body has a concave profile. …
