A central circular recess is present in the base of the weight (internal diameter is 14.6 mm). The remains of the copper alloy suspension loop are present at the top of the weight. A complete cast lead alloy biconvex spindlewhorl which could date from the Roman to Post Medieval periods, AD43-1650. The spindlewhorl has a sub circular central hole positioned off centre with an internal diameter of 6.35mm. The upper face is decorated with four diagonal ridges separating the face into quadrants. The face is decorated with seven circular pellets in an irregular pattern. The lower face is plain. The spindlewhorl has a light grey colour with and even patina. The surface is slightly abraded. Diameter: 22.99mm. Thickness: 11.74mm. Weight: 28.9g.
