An incomplete, hand made, iron axe head, of possible Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). It has a curved and flaring blade that has a triangular longitudinal section. The axe expands to the pole / shaft end, which curves downwards, is flat and rectangular in form. The eye through which the axe would have originally have been hafted is oval with an integral projecting lug at the blade end on the upper surface. A complete iron axe or axehead, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1000 to AD 1500). The axe is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with an irregular shaped expanded blade that has a pronounced downward projection. The socket is sub circular in shape measuring 37.8 mm length x 27.3mm width. The butt of the axe is rectangular. As the blade expands in width it tapers in section; forming a wide even cutting edge. An incomplete iron probable plate brooch, of probable Roman dating (2nd Century AD). The probable brooch is circular in shape, with two opposing triangular projections. One of these is flat, the other has a perpendicular (at right angles) projection extending downwards. This is probably the remnants of the catch plate. An 'S' shaped void is present in the centre of the probable plate brooch. No decoration appears to be present. It measures 44.33 mm in length, 23.02 mm wide and 7.88 mm thick. It weighs 3.8 g. A complete cast iron cannon ball, of 19th Century dating. The cannon ball is spherical in shape. It has a maximum diameter of 105 mm (4.1 inches) and weighs 4 kg (2.2 lbs). The circumference is approximately 32 cm (12.5 inches). The cannon ball is a mid to dark brown colour, with an even surface patina. Some traces of iron corrosion (rust) are present on the surface, but no lamination of the surface has occurred. The dimensions and weight would suggest that this cannon ball is a British 9 pdr. An incomplete forged iron dagger, of probable Early Post Medieval dating (15th to 16th Centuries AD). Around 50% of the dagger is present, consisting of most of the blade, the quillon and part of the tang. The rest of the tang and the tip of the blade are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. An incomplete lock escutcheon from a piece of furniture, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1700 to AD 1800). The lock escutcheon is irregular in shape, but with a flat cross section. Iron corrosion products do obscure the surface. The lock escutcheon has a pelta shape above with a sunburst stamp on a it. The lock escutcheon is irregular in shape, with a semi-circular top with a squared lys terminal at the base. It measures 46.4 mm in length, 49. 8 mm wide and 10.3 mm thick. It weighs 31.9 g.

A complete iron hobnail of probable Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). The hobnail has a domed head, and curved shank. The shank tapers to a blunt point. It measures 14.4 mm in length and the head has a diameter of 10.1 mm. It weighs 1.3 g. The hobnail is a mid brown colour, with an even surface patina. The nails compare to other examples on the database including WAW-A15B19 discovered in Warwickshire. Here the record states that "Hob nails were used in Roman footwear (caligulae).
