A complete cast iron cannon ball, of 19th Century dating. The cannon ball is spherical in shape. It has a maximum diameter of 105 mm (4.1 inches) and weighs 4 kg (2.2 lbs). The circumference is approximately 32 cm (12.5 inches). The cannon ball is a mid to dark brown colour, with an even surface patina. Some traces of iron corrosion (rust) are present on the surface, but no lamination of the surface has occurred. The dimensions and weight would suggest that this cannon ball is a British 9 pdr.
