A complete pair of hand made copper-alloy tweezers, probably of Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410) but possibly Medieval dating (AD 1000 to AD 1500). The tweezers are formed from one strip of copper alloy, with a loop at the top and rectangular blade ends. Both ends are complete. No decoration is present. The tweezers measure 53.45 mm in length, have a maximum width 6.12 mm, and are 10.52 mm thick. The metal is 0.85 mm thick. They weigh 3.3 grams. An incomplete copper alloy sword pommel of Early Medieval dating (c. AD 410 to c. AD 600). The pommel is a 'cocked hat' type. It is broadly rectangular in plan, with slightly bowed longer edges. The two shorter edges are abraded and each retains the remains of a flat semi-circular lug that enabled the pommel to be secured to the pommel bar by means of rivets. The handle is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The spoon bowl is sub oval in plan, with a slightly sloped rececess in the centre for gathering food. The front of the lock hasp terminates with a debased scallop shell. Above this, is a horizontal groove, extending into a rectangular bar, with bevelled edges. An incomplete copper alloy pole-mounted terret of Roman date (43-200 AD ). The oval loop, through which the rein would have passed is incomplete due to old breaks, only the lower fragment of it survives. The loop has a rectangular cross-section and flares towards its base,. The iron shank is attached directly into a 'skirt'. This area is now heavily encrusted in iron corrosion.
