A complete cast copper alloy swaging block, of modern date (c.1890 to 1930 AD). It is semi-circular in plan and consists of a cast of the upper jaw (maxilla) from an adult. The teeth present are (from right to left): PM2, PM1, I2, I1, C, PM1, PM2, M1. This means that the denture would have false teeth for the right canine, and left lateral & central incisors. The swaging block measures 41.38mm in height, 51.10mm wide and 32.04mm thick. It weighs 313.1 grams. Swaging blocks were used as part of the manufacture of dental plates. Roman coin: A complete struck / hammered copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286 to 293) (Reece Period 14), [PA]X [AVG], Pax standing left with globe and vertical sceptre.
