A gold mourning finger ring. It has traces of black enamelling on the exterior, in a probable floral pattern. An inscription is present on the internal surface, reading "Death is the waye to life". Next to the inscription on the internal surface is a maker's stamp with the initials TS in square cartouche. Description: Post-Medieval gold mourning ring. A complete, but bent gold posy finger ring of Late Post Medieval dating to the17th Century No trace of enamel is surviving on the exterior, which has been decorated on the exterior with double hearts flanked by love birds with foliage and flowers, including a pansy for 'thoughts'. The object would have been enamelled, tiny traces remain. Inscription on the inner surface: Loue euer or neuer There is a possible maker's mark in the form of a square shield containing what may be the letter m. A complete but misshapen gold finger ring, with domed oval red glass / paste inset intaglio. The intaglio was possibly engraved but due to damage caused by movement in the plough soil, any engraving is hard to determine. The finger ring has been decorated by a series of double circles, with annulets in the centre, joined together by a raised bar. The finger ring has an external diameter of 22.95mm, and an internal diameter of 17.53mm. The back of the hoop is 2.64mm wide and 0.83mm thick. The bezel is 13.93mm wide and 18.57mm long.
