The base exhibits a minor concavity, with a ridge present running around the edge. A length of thick iron wire has been inserted into the weight, probably as a method of suspension. Iron corrosion products present have obscured the original shape of the probable suspension loop. No decoration is present on the weight. The front has been stamped with the inscription '3.12', presumably the weight that it was required to weigh. The back is plain and undecorated.
