A complete cast copper alloy hooked strap fitting of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (1400 to 1600 AD).
The strap fitting consists of a rectangular D sectioned attachment, with a square sectioned hook at the base. The hook has a blunt point, and is U shaped in profile. The attachment end has been decorated by a couple of raised collars, one at the top and one at the bottom, on either side of the holes for rivets. An iron rivet is still present in the lower hole, whereas the upper hole is empty. The internal diameter of the upper hole is 2.96mm.
