An incomplete cast copper alloy pipe tamper, of Post Medieval dating (18th Century AD).
The pipe tamper is irregular in plan and profile. Approximately 50% of the tamper is present, comprising the handle. The base of the tamper is missing.
The tamper depicts an erotic scene. The scene consists of a standing couple, probably engaged in sexual intercourse. The two figures are positioned facing each other. An incomplete cast copper alloy pipe tamper, of Late Post Medieval to Early Modern dating (1650 to 1850 AD).
Approximately 50% of the pipe tamper is present, consisting of the decorative terminal and part of the stem. The tamper end is missing. The stem is similar in style to a 'Fluted baluster' style spoon knop of 17th Century dating (Homer, 1999). The decorative terminal consists of a forked feather or petal like end.
The pipe tamper is a mid to dark green colour, with an even surface patina.
