A complete cast copper alloy mount of 11th century dating. The mount is irregular in plan. It consists of an openwork interlaced zoomorphic style design on the front, with two facing beasts with gaping mounts. The beast heads are located at the base, on either side, with their tails interlocking at the top of the mount. No flange is present on the reverse of the mount. The back is plain and undecorated. It measures 26.18mm in height, 30.21mm wide and 3.69mm thick. It weighs 9.5 grams. The mount is a mid to dark green colour, with an even surface patina. A combination of wear …
