An incomplete cast copper alloy rectangular double looped buckle, of probable Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval (c.1400 - c. 1600 AD). Approximately 35% of the buckle frame is present, consisting of one side. The central bar and the opposite loop are missing. The frame fragment is U-shaped in plan, with a flat side and projecting arms top and bottom. In cross section, the frame is rectangular. The buckle frame is complete and is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with a slight integrally cast central bar to which a pin would have been attached. The pin is lost but would have been attached to the central bar by the terminal being folded back upon itself. There is no evidence for a recessed pin rest on the frame. The buckle is a sub rectangular shoe or knee buckle, with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The frame has been decorated with three moulded transverse vertical ridges on either side of the spindle hole. An incised foliate design is present on the outer edge of each loop.
