An incomplete fragment of a cast copper alloy suspension loop from a chafing dish handle, of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (1450 - 1600 AD). The loop is sub rectangular in plan and cross section, with tapering sides and a rounded terminal. At the flat end, there is a cylindrial attachment knop (diameter 7.36mm); the end of this knop is broken, with the surface patina covering the surface indicating damage in antiquity, prior to burial.
