A translation of the Arabic inscription on the obverse reads: "Sultan Mahmud Khan, May his victory be glorious". The reverse inscription appears to be illegible.

The date of minting is uncertain as the reverse has been polished for reuse as a love token / birth memento. The reverse has been inscribed with an italic inscription: I N Mullins Born 4th May 1811.

A medieval silver coin of Edward II (1307-27), probably of class 10cf3 (1307-9), minted at Canterbury.
The coin is mostly complete, but has been altered in two ways. The coin has been pierced through the top of the obverse above the crown (equating to the base of the long cross of the reverse), possibly in order that the coin could be suspended.
