An incomplete fragment of an enamelled copper alloy Wirral type bow brooch of Roman date (75 - 175AD). The fragment consists of part of the head, the bow and part of the foot. The spring, catch plate and pin are missing. The bow of the brooch has an angular comma shaped profile and a rectangular shaped cross section. The break across the head is old and patinated. The bow tapers to a point below the decorated enamel panel. The head consists of three horizontal ribs. The central horizontal rib has vertical rouletted decoration.
