An incomplete cast copper alloy strap end of probable Late Anglo-Saxon dating (750 - 1100 AD).
The strap end is sub oval (rectangle with flattened ends and bowed sides) in plan. The majority of the strap end is cast as a solid piece, with the exception of the widest part of the terminal which divides, in profile, forming a 'V' shape. The leather strap would have been attached to the strap end by rivets. The back part of the V shaped union is present, the front plate is missing. An incomplete cast copper alloy annular brooch of Anglo-Saxon dating (5th to 6th Century AD).
Approximately 50% of the brooch frame is present, the pin is missing, presumably lost in antiquity. The brooch frame consists of a flat curved band. The front has been decorated with a series of punched ring and dot designs. Perforations or holes are present instead of the central dot. Not all of the holes have been completely perforated. The back is plain and undecorated. Part of a casting ridge or seam is still present on the back.
