The token is broadly circular in plan. The upper face (obverse) exhibits a series of irregularly spaced radiating lines from a central pellet. There are seven (7) spokes in total. A single pellet is present between two of the radiating spokes. The lower face (reverse) is plain and undecorated.
The token has been bent slightly, so it no longer lies flat.
The token measures 18.75mm in diameter and is 2.27mm thick. It weighs 4.4 grams.

The token is broadly circular in plan. Determination of the design of the upper face is hindered by the presence of soil and corrosion products but it is possible to broadly identify the design. The upper face (obverse) exhibits three curvilinear lines, to create a rough three petalled flower style design. There is a raised knop in the centre of the design. A complete but worn struck / hammered copper alloy trade token, issued by Samuel Lvdinton (of the Mercer's Arms), during the mid 17th Century (1660-1683).
Both Townsend (1983, p.40) and Williamson (1889, p461, #155) has identified this token as belong to that of Samuel Ludinton, who was mayor of the City of Lincoln in 1647 and 1660. There was another Samuel Ludinton, probably the son of the former, who held the office of Sheriff in 1681 and Mayor in 1683 (Williamson, 1889, p461). This trade token could therefore date from between 1647 to 1683.
