A complete copper alloy staff terminal, of early medieval to medieval dating.
The terminal is circular in form, rectangular in section, hollow and with a short integrally cast rectangular socket projecting from its base. It has openwork decoration on both sides consisting of a ten pointed star with curved lines connecting each point. A central projection knop is present. Multiple small sub circular projecting knops or pellets are present as decoration along each curve and point. A complete copper alloy ornamental cross staff head mount, of eleventh to twelfth century AD dating (1000 to 1200 AD)
The spherical head possesses a globular openwork design. The sides have been made up of three rows of sub circular holes. The arms between each exhibit a raised pellet at each junction. Four raised pellets are present at the corners of a solid lozenge on the top of the staff head. At the base of the object, there extends a circular section collar.
