An incomplete cast copper alloy sub oval ring, with strap fitting, probably dating to the Early Iron Age, contemporary with Hallstatt C (800 BC to 400 BC). Approximately 50% of the harness fitting remains and consists of a semi circular strap loop attached to an incomplete sub oval ring, of which only the upper half remains. The strap loop is semi circular in plan, d-shaped in cross section and is 5.69mm thick. The ring is sub oval in plan, sub circular in cross section and 9.73mm thick. This artefact is unusually thick compared to more frequently recorded examples. …

An Incomplete cast copper alloy harness fitting / mount of probable later post medieval date (1600-1700). The mount is broadly sub circular in plan with an incomplete sub rectangular attachment loop at one edge. In profile the mount is domed; convex or C shaped in cross section. The mount would have originally been symmetrical with another sub rectangular attachment on the opposing side. The mount is decorated with a series of openwork cast patterns. An incomplete cast copper alloy terret of simple type dating to the Late Iron Age, circa 300BC-AD100. Just under half of the object survives due to old breaks. The hoop of the terret is circular in section and originally the object would have been D-shaped in plan. The object terminates with the remains of the plate bar protruding from a collar which has two moulded bands of decoration. The fitting consists of a central lunate shape, with two probably complete sub triangular wings at the top. A sub circular suspension hole is present at the top of the lunate, between the two wings. Probably 25% of the strap distributor is present, consisting of one of either two or four arms remaining. The rest were probably lost in antiquity. An incomplete copper alloy pole-mounted terret of Roman date (43-200 AD ). The oval loop, through which the rein would have passed is incomplete due to old breaks, only the lower fragment of it survives. The loop has a rectangular cross-section and flares towards its base,. The iron shank is attached directly into a 'skirt'. This area is now heavily encrusted in iron corrosion.
