An incomplete copper alloy possible snake style finger ring, of possible Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). The possible finger ring is shallowly plano-convex and terminates with a worn, snake head as seen from above. The features are worn, but the overall appearance is clearly Roman in style and finds many parallels in the literature. The shank tapers to the break; it is now bent over. No stamps or marks are present on the wire. The ends have been cut. It has been formed into a circular shape with the ends of the wire overlapping by 3.4 mm. It weighs 1.0 g. The circular section of the wire is suggestive of a modern date, and therefore as it is probably less than 300 years old, it falls outside of the remits of the Treasure Act 1996 and should not be considered to be potential Treasure.
