An incomplete small cast copper-alloy gilded buckle plate of medieval date (12th to 13th century AD). The surviving plate is sub-rectangular in plan and irregular in cross section. It consists of the upper plate of of a folded sheet buckle plate. Old breaks are present at the fold. The lower plate and the buckle are missing, presumably lost in antiquity. The upper surface is decorated with a raised lion passant guardant with head turned backwards within a frame; the tail curves round on itself. A fragment of a cast copper alloy two piece rectangular shoe buckle with drilled frame, dating to c.1720 - to 1790s. The fragment consists of approximately 15% of the original buckle frame, belonging to a rectangular shoe buckle type, with a drilled frame for a separate spindle, consisting of half of the side of the buckle frame.
