Record ID: WMID-2E7293
Object type: COIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
A complete struck silver quarter stater of the Iron Age, South-Western (Durtriges), dating to 50 BC to AD 40, probably of the Duro Thunderbolt type. ABC (Rudd) p. 113, cf. 2217; BMC 2771-9. The obverse of the coin does, however, appear to have the 'three men in a boat' design which appears on the 'Badbury Rat' type (Rudd 2214). The coin was presented for recording in a sealed coin wallet, so only diameter was able to be measured and this is not exact. Thickness and weight could not be determined. Diameter: 12.4 mm
