A copper alloy sub-circular section of a purse frame typically of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c.1450 to c.1550). Late Medieval purse frames came in several sections. The main part consisted of a purse bar and hanger which hung off the belt. The purse bar supported the main part of the purse. Attached to the purse bar, were one or two supporting (pendent) arms, which would have the bag of the purse sewn onto it, to maintain the shape and increase the durability of the purse. An incomplete copper alloy attachment bar from an purse, of Early Post Medieval dating (15th to 16th Centuries AD). The attachment bar is T shaped, with a central trapezoidal block, located on one side. The arms are circular in cross section and have an overall length, including the terminal, of 23.3 mm. The shaped of the terminals is that of a dome or a mushroom. At the base of the central block, on this upper arm, there is an integral shank (now incomplete), circular in cross-section, which penetrates the lower central block. An incomplete copper alloy purse suspension loop of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c.1450-1600 AD). The suspension loop is sub-oval in plan, and D-shaped in cross section. The suspension loop consists of an oval loop, with the sides tapering into a rectangular collar. The shank that would have originally extended through the purse bar, is incomplete and has broken just below the collar. An incomplete copper alloy purse bar, of the Early Post Medieval period, dating from circa AD 1500 - AD 1550. The remains of the purse bar include the two complete horizontal arms which would have formed the upper part of the frame. The remainder of the frame is now missing.
