An incomplete cast lead alloy (pewter) pipe bowl from a toy whistle, of Post Medieval to Modern dating (1800 to 1900 AD). The pipe bowl is incomplete, missing parts of the sides. The pipe bowl has a pointed base. The lower part of the bowl has a textured background comprising very small dots (like orange peel), on top of this are a series of larger relief moulded pellets. No decoration or inscription is visible on the exterior. It has a diameter of 29.3 mm, is 13.9 mm wide and 11.0 mm thick. It weighs 18.9 g. The probable lead weight is a light to mid grey colour, with an even surface patina. Lead weights like this may have been skirt or hem weights or more likely gate weights to help close farm gates. It is probably of Post Medieval dating (AD 1700 to AD 1800).
