The artefact is in two pieces, consisting of the main body of the animal and a separate tail fragment. The body fragment is roughly tubular in shape, oval in cross-section and tapering towards the tail end. There is a hollow void in the centre of the body, which extends for 30.9 mm. The fragment is openwork and represents one arm of a pair from the cheekpiece. The surviving terminal consists of a flattened expanded terminal, decorated by a series of ridges. The reverse is flat and undecorated.
