It is a dark grey colour, with an even patina across the surface. It has suffered a minor degree of abrasion, with plough roll scars being present on the surface.

The sherd has an oxidised fabric, with frequent small charcoal like inclusions. Traces of a green glaze are present on the exterior of the sherd. The fabric and the glazing is indicative of a local (unsourced) Medieval jug fabric, probably from the Worcestershire area. A cast copper alloy nail cleaner with folded top, of Roman date (1st to 4th Centuries AD). A complete, but slightly bent, cast copper alloy cleaner, similar to Crummy's type 1a (Crummy, 1983, p57). A complete Post Medieval gunflint with lead casing from a flintlock gun. The flint is square in plan and is enclosed on both faces and one side by a sub-rectangular folded lead holder. The three visible edges of the flint show signs of working, both controlled and uncontrolled fractures, the other edge is obscured. The edges of the lead are rounded and there is a small hole present in the folded side of the lead holder. This hole was presumably part of the mounting mechanism.
