A bodysherd of a handmade ceramic vessel. The sherd is 10.06mm thick and weighs 25.9g. It is 56.20mm long and 46.28mm wide. The sherd consists of a bodysherd, in a dark micaeous rich fabric, with an organic temper. The exterior of the sherd has two rows of decoration. The top row consists of three (3) circular wheel stamps with a central cross, splitting the circle into four approximately equal sized quadrants. A fragment of probable silver inlay. It consists of thin piece of silver metal, decorated on one side. The lower edge is curved. The decoration consists of crossing fleur-de-lys or leaf-tendrils forming an inward pointing triangle in which is a further leaf-motif. This decoration is set against a back-ground of roughly incised lines which could represent the keying for enamel or niello inlay although the cells lack sufficient depth to retain inlay.
