Medieval coin: A worn cast copper alloy Chinese coin, from the Northern Song dynasty (960 AD to 1127 AD), minted during the Xining reign between 1068 and 1077 AD. Chinese characters (inscription- Xining yuanbao) are only present on the obverse. A square hole (7.60mm by 8.05mm internal dimensions) is present at the centre of the coin. Diameter: 24.00mm Thickness: 1.44mm Weight: 4.1 grams It is doubtful that this is a geninue medieval find (i.e. present in the country due to trade and lost accidentially) but more likely a more recent loss from an curated collection.
