The cuff link consists of a single disc or cuff link element. It is circular in plan, with bevelled edges. . The back is plain and undecorated. The method of attachment is missing. The front has been die stamped with a crown with central cross pattee ornament. Two hearts are below. This design is believed to be a reference to that of the marriage of Charles II (1660-1685) to Catherine of Braganza in 1662. It has a diameter of 12.63mm and is 2.50mm thick. It weighs 1.6 grams. The finial consists of robed figure, with bare head and chin length chin, holding a book in his right hand and either a saw or a one sided palm frond in his left. The figure is stood on a double fluted hexagonal shaped base. It measures 32.01mm in length, 11.46mm wide and 8.88mm thick. It weighs 10.9 grams. The earliest dated set of Apostle spoons is 1493 AD, but they were most popular from 1500 AD to 1660s AD. Complete sets consisted of all twelve Apostles and the Savior or the Virgin Mary. They were commonly given as Christening gifts, either as a full set by the wealthy or just as a single spoon by the less affluent. Initially they were made from silver, but examples made from pewter or copper alloy are known. If the attribute being held in the figure's left hand, is a long saw, then it is reasonable to assume that the Apostle depicted is that of Saint Simon Zelotes. He was so called due to his fervent adherence to Jewish Law or that he belonged to a group of patriots, prepared to revolt against Roman Occupation. He was among the original followers of Jesus. He suffered martyrdom, whilst preaching in Persia with Saint Jude. As he was executed by being sawn in half by pagan priests, his attribute is that of a long saw, and he is the Patron saint of sawyers.", "updater":"Emma Traherne", "treasure":1, "length":32.01, "material":22, "knownas":"Bawtry", "findspotcode":"LVPL-884311", "id":434810, "surface":1, "classification":"Apostle", "objectCertaintyID":1, "otherRef":"2011T151", "periodToEH":"POST MEDIEVAL", "objecttype":"SPOON", "fourFigure":"Restricted Access", "findIdentifier":"finds-434810", "dateFromQualifierID":1, "discovery":1, "width":11.46, "precision":8, "old_findID":"LVPL-883FF2", "completenessTerm":"Incomplete", "fromdate":1500, "periodToBM":"x41047", "imagedir":"images\/tgilmore\/", "periodFromCertaintyID":1, "thumbnail":"https:\/\/finds.org.uk\/images\/thumbnails\/321543.jpg", "secuid":"PAS4D8883FF001429", "workflow":3, "created":"2011-03-22T11:11:59Z", "periodFromCertainty":"Certain", "periodFromBM":"x14221", "manufacture":1, "datefound1":"2011-02-05T00:00:00Z", "note":1, "periodTo":36, "broadperiod":"POST MEDIEVAL", "materialTerm":"Silver", "regionID":41423, "periodFromEH":"MD", "quantity":1, "dateFromQualifier":"Circa", "periodFrom":29, "imageCopyright":"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/2.0\/", "periodFromName":"MEDIEVAL", "currentLocation":"Bassetlaw Museum", "objectCertainty":"Certain", "parishType":"Civil Parish", "timestamp":"2022-07-14T07:09:55.774Z", "url":"https:\/\/finds.org.uk\/database\/artefacts\/record\/id\/434810" }, "id":434810 }, { "type":"Feature", "geometry":{ "type":"Point", "coordinates":[ null, null ] }, "properties":{ "county":"Cheshire East", "accuracy":1, "countyType":"Unitary Authority", "manufactureTerm":"Struck or hammered", "rally":1, "periodToName":"MEDIEVAL", "periodToCertaintyID":1, "mintGeonamesID":3029162, "discoveryMethod":"Metal detector", "filename":"LVPL-C3E3F8.jpg", "countyID":43553, "discovered":2011, "gridSource":"GPS (from the finder)", "mint":41, "subsequentAction":"1", "parishID":12354, "dateToQualifierID":1, "broadperiodEH":"MD", "thickness":0.65, "districtType":"Unitary Authority", "periodToCertainty":"Certain", "completeness":2, "ruler":1924, "denomination":51, "institution":"LVPL", "districtID":43553, "diameter":17.73, "todate":1430, "parish":"Restricted Access", "broadperiodBM":"x14221", "woeid":16697, "weight":0.8, "district":"Cheshire East", "primaryMaterialBM":11728, "denominationName":"Penny", "updated":"2011-04-23T15:19:00Z", "subsequentActionTerm":"Returned to finder", "regionName":"North West", "dateToQualifier":"Circa", "description":"Medieval coin: An incomplete struck \/ hammered silver penny of Henry VI during his first reign (1422 - 1461 AD), minted in Calais between 1427 and 1430, of the Rosette-Mascle issue type.
