An incomplete cast copper alloy zoomorphic strap end of Late Anglo-Saxon dating (9th Century AD). The strap end is sub oval (rectangle with flattened ends and bowed sides) in plan. The majority of the strap end is cast as a solid piece, with the exception of the widest part of the terminal which divides, in profile, forming a 'V' shape. A complete cast silver mount dating to the early medieval period. It is tongue-shaped, with a flat top, curved base and straight sides. The front is decorated in the Winchester Style with a pair of creatures (possibly birds or wyverns) at both top and bottom, their heads turned over their backs with a long tail that curls into the centre, where it meets a feline mask. The back is concave with a rectangular lug at the top. Two rivets are present at the base, one iron and the other silver. The top edge appears to be complete.
