The thimble is of the beehive or domed shape, and is sub circular in shape. A series of circular holes or indentations have been punched around the sides in horizontal and vertical lines, in a left hand spiral pattern. The indentations are in a circular pattern, with three central spaced pits, on the domed top. The lower edge is incomplete and not a smooth edge.

An incomplete squashed copper alloy domed / beehive thimble of Late Medieval dating (c. AD 1400 to c. AD 1550)
The thimble was originally of the beehive or domed shape, and is sub oval in shape. It is now more of the ring type. Broken edges are present along the top edge, indicating that it has been cut down from a beehive or domed thimble. A series of circular holes or indentations (pits) have been punched around the sides in four horizontal lines, in a right hand spiral pattern.

The thimble has been squashed flat. The thimble was probably of the beehive or domed shape. It has been made from sheet copper alloy metal. A series of circular holes or indentations have been punched around the sides in horizontal and vertical rows. There is a split in one of the sides. The lower edge is incomplete.

An incomplete copper alloy press moulded thimble of Late Post medieval to Modern dating (c. 1850 to 1900).
The thimble was originally conical in form with sides that slightly flare out from the flat- top to the base. Now it displays a split down the seam and has opened up. The thimble appears to be sheet pressed with two large bands of decoration. The upper band consists of repeating small plain crosses. The lower band has a curvi-linear floral design. The object has two circumferential bands as decoration at the base.

The thimble is of the domed or beehive shape, and is sub circular in plan, having been slightly bent out of shape due to soil pressure. The thimble has two sections to it, the inner section consisting of an inner sleeve in a domed shape and an outer section with a series of indentations punched into it.

A probable complete copper alloy ring or open thimble, of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c. AD 1450 to c. AD 1550).
This thimble is circular in cross-section and the side tapers inwards from the base towards the top. The outer face has around 18 vertical lines of drilled sub-triangular pits. Some of the lines are obscured by dirt or corrosion products. An engraved line is present both top and bottom. There are no manufacturing marks. Both top and bottom edges exhibit damage, but are probably mostly complete.

The thimble consists of a flat basal ring, which extends slightly (0.6 mm) away from the body of the thimble. The thimble is 8.9 mm tall. There are multiple irregularly spaced columns of three circular pits around the thimble body. The walls of the thimble are 2.0 mm think. No seam is present, suggesting it is of the seam-less type. The thimble is conical with an oval section removed on one side. This oval section extends from the crown to 5.3 mm above the base, a maximum width of 11.0 mm and a maximum length of 18.9 mm. An incomplete silver thimble, of probable Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1700).
The incomplete thimble consists of part of the inscribed band at the base of the thimble and part of the pits above. The rest is missing. The fragment of the band appears to have part of a foliate decoration present. The pits are circular in shape, and aligned both horizontally and diagonally. The reverse is undecorated.
The fragment measures 8.0 mm in length, 6.1 mm wide and 0.4 mm thick. It weighs 0.1 g.
The fragment is a mid to dark grey colour, with an even surface patina.

The thimble is incomplete as it was constructed in two parts: sides and the domed top. Only the lower body / sides are present, as the domed top is lost, presumed lost in antiquity. The seam on the body has split open. The sides are decorated with two grids of square depressions (pits for the needle), each separated by a vertical column with several small diagonal grooves, orientated vertical.
