The strap fitting consists of an externally bevelled ring with an octofoil plate joined to it. The octofoil plate has eight corners with alternating arches and angles. The strap fitting is circular in plan, but due to soil pressure, is now displaying a lateral warping. It was probably originally flat or slightly domed. The fitting can be divided into two separate parts; the body and the hooked terminal. The hooked terminal is lost and the break is worn and eroded suggested a relatively old break.
