An almost complete Roman Colchester derivative brooch of Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4.a, flat wing ends type), dating to AD 75-200. The wings are semi-cylindrical in plan with pierced wing/end caps intact. The end caps extend slightly beyond the diameter of the wings. The bow head is hump-like, and slightly angular (comma shaped) in profile. At the reverse of the head is a groove which retains the spring. A incomplete enamelled harness fitting of probable late Iron Age dating (100 BC to 100 AD). The harness fitting is an irregular shape, almost comma shaped, with a rounded head and a squared tail. The upper surface is flat, with five panels of enamel decoration. The rounded head has three enamel panels, each a lentoid or pointed oval shape, creating a triskele shape between them. A Complete copper alloy (bronze) socketed axe of Sompting type and of Early Iron Age dating (c. 800-600 BC) The axehead is complete (with an overall length of 123.3 mm and a weight of 386.4 g). The mouth is sub-rectangular (45.0 mm long and 41.9 mm wide).
