An incomplete copper alloy, swivelling harness hook or fitting and associated fitting, of uncertain dating but probably Medieval to Post Medieval in dating (13th to 17th Centuries AD). The artefact has two separate elements: a hook, and associated fitting. Neither are complete. The hook consists of a domed (conical) terminal knop with a rounded top and a flattened base. An incomplete copper alloy harness hook, of Medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1500). Around 25% of the harness hook is present, consisting of the conical terminal and part of the hook. The hook has a conical terminal, with a blunt point. The hook has a rectangular cross section. It measures 27.2 mm in length with a maximum diameter of 11.1 mm. It weighs 6.9 g. The harness hook is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail. A complete cast copper alloy enamelled heraldic horse harness fitting / harness hook, of Medieval dating (AD 1250 to AD 1400). The fitting is complete and cast in one piece, it is irregular in plan and cross section having an upper circular shaped plate which is rectangular in cross section. A complete cast copper alloy gilded harness hook, of Medieval dating (AD 1250 to AD 1450). The harness hook consists of a rectangular bar mount at the top, which descends into a forward facing hook. The hook is flat with a rectangular section, bevelled edges and terminates in a blunt trapezoidal end. The rectangular bar mount has a central ridge, with the sides sloping away from the centre.
