An incomplete cast copper alloy Trumpet style brooch, of Roman (75 to 175 AD) dating. Approximately 90% of the brooch is present, with the pin being present, but incomplete. The head of the brooch is oval in plan, and tapers into the bow. The reverse of the head is flat, with a integrally cast rectangular lug. An incomplete cast copper alloy catch plate fragment from a Trumpet style brooch, of Roman (75 to 175 AD) dating. The catch plate fragment consists of the base of the bow and part of the triangular catch plate behind it. It is rectangular in plan, and irregular in profile. The catch plate is a mid to dark green colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of surface detail. The catch plate measures 25.87mm in length, 6.83mm wide and 10.58mm thick. It weighs 4.2 grams. This brooch fragment was found in …

A complete cast copper alloy Aucissa type bow brooch, of 1st Century AD dating (AD 43 - AD 75). The bow brooch consists of a two part hinged bow, each part (the bow and the pin) having been cast separately and fastened together. The bow is flat, and has a rectangular cross section. A complete cast copper alloy skeuomorphic plate brooch, of Roman dating (2nd to 3rd Centuries AD). The plate brooch has been cast in the form of a swastika (a cross where the arms are bent in an L-shape, with the base of the legs orientated anti-clockwise). Each of the four arms has been decorated by a series of incised squares positioned at the end. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (probably Dolphin style) brooch with hinged pin of Roman date (55-100AD). This brooch is unusually heavy and also slightly crude with a very wide and thick head. The wings are complete being solid cast and cylindrical in plan. A small hole passes laterally through the wings (diameter: 3.4mm) and holds a copper alloy axis bar.
