An incomplete struck / hammered copper alloy Jetton, of uncertain issuer, but probably of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500). The jetton is circular in plan and heavily worn. The obverse is unclear, with a shield design bearing at least three complete fleur de lys. The reverse probably has straight double stranded cross fleuretty, within an arched tressure. The jetton has a diameter of 27.5 mm and is 2.0 mm thick. It weighs 3.4 g. The jetton is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina. An incomplete copper alloy Tournai Jetton of Medieval dating (AD 1497 to AD 1521). The obverse depicts three circles each containing a quatrefoil and the reverse depicts a broad cross pattee with a flower in each angle. The jetton probably has an abbreviated legend of the phrase 'Sit Nomen Domini (benedictum)', now worn and mostly illegible. It has a diameter of 25.4 mm and is 1.3 mm thick. It weighs 2.9 g. The jetton is a dark green colour with an even surface patina. Mitchiner (1988) illustrates similar on p242 (nos 747-748). These jettons are dated to c. AD 1497…

A complete struck / hammered copper alloy Jetton, of uncertain issuer, but probably of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500). The jetton is circular in plan and heavily worn. The obverse is unclear, with a probable fictitious legend around the outside of the central circle. The reverse is unclear but probably depicts a cross fleuretty. Diameter: 26.9 mm Thickness: 1.4 mm Weight: 4.4 g From the shape and style of the jetton, it is probably that it was part of the Tournai series of Jetton issued during the 14th and 16th Centuries.

Obverse depicts four fleurs de lis (lys) in a lozenge within a tressure of four arches, and the reverse depicts a simple cross pattee in the field with flowers in each quarter, struck mainly in Tournai during the reign of Louis XII (1497-1515) but also struck during the reign of Francis I (1515-1547) up to the year 1521 when Tournai was occupied by Charles V.
