Six Roman pottery sherds found in the same area. One is a body sherd of samian, decorated with a moulded dog or wolf running right. It is from either a Dragondorf 29 or 37 bowl (weight 3.3 grams). It dates from the first to third century AD. A second sherd of samian is from a mortarium, either a Dragondorf 43 or 45. It dates from the second to third centuries AD and is probably from East Gaul (weight 9.4 grams). The third is a local white ware mortaria, possibly Hartshill / Mancetter (Warwickshire) as that is a major mortarium production site in the region. …
