Three (3) sherds, weighing 13.7 grams, from the same wheelthrown ceramic vessel. These sherds consist of one (1) rimsherd and two (2) bodysherds.
All three (3) sherds have a fabric similar to that described as SAND1 in Ratkai 2000, p. 85. It consists of a glazed sandy ware, a regional type of jug, found in Herefordshire and Shropshire, with a main concentration in Worcestershire and Staffordshire. One of the bodysherds exhibits some rouletted decoration, which would indicate dating of mid 12th to mid 13th centuries (1150 to 1250 AD).

Two (2) bodysherds, weighing 14.3 grams, from of a handmade ceramic vessel.
Both sherds have a fabric similar to that described as SANDC in Ratkai 2000, p85. It consists of a coarse sandy cooking pot type fabric, a regional type of cooking pots and jars, found in Herefordshire and Shropshire, with a main concentration in Worcestershire and Staffordshire. This fabric probably dates from late 11th to 13th centuries (c.1075 to c.1200).

Two (2) bodysherds, weighing 2.7 grams, from of a handmade ceramic vessel.
Both sherds have a fabric similar to that described as SAND3 in Ratkai 2000, p85. It consists of a coarse sandy glazed jug type fabric with a white slip present under the glaze. This is similar to the Worcester style jugs, so is likely to be of similar dating, 12th to 13th Centuries (1100 to 1200 AD).

Twenty-three (23) sherds (eight (8) rimsherds, four (4) basesherds and eleven (11) bodysherds) of several wheelthrown ceramic vessels. Three of the bodysherds exhibit circular perforations, probably for lead rivet repairs.
The sherds vary in thickness from 4.75mm to 11.14mm. In total they weigh 189 grams.
The sherds have a smooth red slip and an orangey red fabric. It is consistent with Samian ware, a type of Roman pottery imported from Gaul mainly during the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. No attempt has been made to identify fabrics down to geographical or workshop …

A bodysherd of a handmade ceramic vessel.
The sherd is 10.06mm thick and weighs 25.9g. It is 56.20mm long and 46.28mm wide.
The sherd consists of a bodysherd, in a dark micaeous rich fabric, with an organic temper. The exterior of the sherd has two rows of decoration. The top row consists of three (3) circular wheel stamps with a central cross, splitting the circle into four approximately equal sized quadrants. The sherds vary in thickness from 5.29mm to 8.34mm. In total they weigh 139.9 grams.
The sherds have a hard fired pale, white oxidised fabric with occasional red inclusions. It is similar in style to that known as Oxfordshire Parchment ware, typically distributed around southern England during the 3rd to 4th Centuries AD. The two basesherds have a flat form and probably came from a jar type vessel. The bodysherds can not be identified to a particular vessel form.
