An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (probably Dolphin style) brooch with hinged pin of Roman date (55-100AD). This brooch is unusually heavy and also slightly crude with a very wide and thick head. The wings are complete being solid cast and cylindrical in plan. A small hole passes laterally through the wings (diameter: 3.4mm) and holds a copper alloy axis bar.
