An incomplete copper alloy composite asymmetrical chape (metal fitting from the base of a scabbard), of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1400 to AD 1600). The front plate is present, the back plate is missing. The chape is sub-triangular in shape. At the base of the chape, is a small sub-cylindrical knop. The front of the chape has been decorated with two linear bands, between them are is a quatrefoil recessed design. Beneath the lower band, is a crescent recessed design.
