CHECK GRID REF! A complete copper alloy openwork zoomorphic cruciform mount of probable 11th Century dating. The mount is cruciform in shape, with zoomorphic (animal) heads on each terminal. They have a rounded nose with two recessed circular eyes above. Two smaller circular recesses are positioned above the eyes as ears. The mount is domed and hollow. Above the zoomorphic heads, it extends into an openwork cube with the upper face solid with a circular recess. A gem or coral may have been originally been positioned here. A complete copper alloy mount of probable late early Medieval dating (11th Century AD). The mount is diamond shaped, with rounded globular knops top and bottom. A raised T shaped bar is present in the centre of the mount, located around the mid point, creating three zones. A raised pellet is present at the centre of each of the two upper zones. Description: An incomplete early medieval gold setting, probably once attached to a larger object. The setting is circular and consists of a sheet gold back-plate to which has been soldered a composite collar, made from a gold strip set edge-on to the plate, and surrounded by a single strand of gold beaded wire. The beaded wire is noticeable worn. The back-plate is pressed inwards slightly and has a small oval tear towards one edge. The original inlay, probably glass or a gemstone such as garnet, is missing. A complete cast silver mount dating to the early medieval period. It is tongue-shaped, with a flat top, curved base and straight sides. The front is decorated in the Winchester Style with a pair of creatures (possibly birds or wyverns) at both top and bottom, their heads turned over their backs with a long tail that curls into the centre, where it meets a feline mask. The back is concave with a rectangular lug at the top. Two rivets are present at the base, one iron and the other silver. The top edge appears to be complete.

A complete gilded copper alloy zoomorphic mount, of Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) dating (6th Century AD). The cast copper-alloy, openwork mount is in the form of a stylised bird of prey, shown in profile, crouched over and gripping a serpent. It dates to the early Anglo-Saxon period. The eyeless head and beak, claw, lappet wing and serpent are gilded. For contrast, the neck/body and fantail are silvered (?tinned). Description: An incomplete circular gold setting, originally with a domed cloisonné garnet setting. The circular backplate is framed by a thin (0.4mm) outer and thicker (1.1mm) inner beaded wire. The thicker wire is carefully made with narrow even beads, but the thin wire has more oblique beads and many Aquätorschnitte, no doubt reflecting the difficulty of manufacturing such extremely fine beaded wire. It consists of circular hinge fitting at one side and a flat decorated panel which would have been attached to the book. The decoration consists of an interlaced openwork zoomorphic design. A complete cast copper alloy mount of 11th century dating. The mount is irregular in plan. It consists of an openwork interlaced zoomorphic style design on the front, with two facing beasts with gaping mounts. The beast heads are located at the base, on either side, with their tails interlocking at the top of the mount. No flange is present on the reverse of the mount. The back is plain and undecorated.
