A corroded iron slide key, similar to Manning (1985) Type 2 of Roman date
The key handle is solid and rectangular in cross-section. At one end is a large circular perforation intended as a suspension loop. The bit of the key projects in the same plane as the bow and it is missing its teeth.
The key measures 67.07 mm in total length. The handle has a width of 26.54 mm and a thickness of 6.64 mm. The key bit measures 30.65 mm in length and 13.06 mm in width with a thickness of 13.43 mm. Weight: 48.48g

A post-medieval cast copper-alloy dress fastener dating from the 16th-17th century (c. AD 1500-1650). Read Class E, Type 1 (Read 2008, p. 89, nos. 302-3).
Cast in one-piece with moulded relief and openwork. The dress fastener is a sub-circular plate with a trapezoidal loop and a backward curved hook that terminates with a sharp point. The plate is decorated with moulded ridge arcs around a central circular hole and on the lengths are engrailed decoration consiting of three slightly angular lobes pointed downwards towards the hook end. It has a double loop oval buckle with moulded decoration on the outside and inside edge of the frame consisting of a very worn trefoil. There are semi-circular knobs at the ends of the central bar. The pin is missing.
The date these buckles become popular varies around the country; Egan and Pritchard give a date of 1350 onwards for London examples (1991, nos. 331-334), but in Norwich they come only from early post-medieval contexts (Margeson 1993, nos. 163-177). Many f…

An incomplete copper-alloy medieval bar mount (c. AD 1150-1450).
This mount has a central oval body, domed at the front and concave at the rear. It is in the form of a scallop with drop-shaped lobes radiating from the centre, where there is a small circular rivet hole. Framing the rivet holes, slightly below, are two circular indentations.

A complete, cast, copper-alloy medieval bar mount with terminal and a solid central lobe (c. AD 1150-1450).
This mount has a central oval body, domed at the front and concave at the rear. A smaller domed, semicircular element at each end has a copper-alloy rivet. Undecorated. This mount has a patchy browny-green patina.
Length: 16.60 mm; width: 8.93 mm; thickness: 2.92 mm. Weight: 1.06g.
This form of leather belt mount was very popular in the Medieval period and was in use from at least AD 1150-1450. (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 214, fig. 134 nos. 1160-1161).

Medieval copper alloy casket key made from one piece of rolled and folded sheet metal.
The stem is a hollow sub-circular cross-section. The bow widens out and and has a simple flat pointed end with three circular holes.The bit is a continuation of the stem with the ward shaped into a small rectangle and finished with a small flap folded back to seal the edges, notch in upper and lower edge.

A complete medieval to early post-medieval cast copper alloy buckle dating from the 12th-16th century (c.AD 1100-1600). Cassels 1.3B. Meols type 2.
The buckle is oval shaped with a narrowed off set strap bar. The strap bar has small knops at either end. The outer edge of the buckle is broad and curved. The copper-alloy pin is wrapped around the bar; it is flat and rectangular, tapering to a point. The buckle has a green coloured patina.
The buckle measures 15.64 mm in length, 10.55 mm in width and 2.77 mm in thickness and weighs 1.28g.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy early medieval (early Anglo-Saxon) wrist clasp dating to c AD 450-570. Hines B12.
One half of a single clasp has survived. It is plano-convex and comprises a rectangular bar with integral semi-circular lobes with central circular perforation on the rear edge. On the front edge, in the original centre, is the hook-element, a rectangular slot for attachement. The reverse is slightly concave. Greyish-green patina. Old break.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman brooch, probably a headstud type c.AD 70-125.
Only the lower part of the bow has survived. The rectangular bow is oval in cross-section and gently tapers towards a collared foot. The bow is decorated with a panel of square slots, now filled with dirt. The reverse has the D-shaped remains of the catchplate.

The brooch has sub-rectangular wings with a transverse cylindrical casement along the reverse. At the top of the wings, centrally positioned, is the remains of an oval suspension loop.
