A cast lead fish, probably a pendant or fishing lure of post-medieval to modern date c. AD 1800-1900. A naturalistically cast modelled fish, with a long dorsal fin and smaller pelvic fin represented together with a forked tail. Moulded detail overall includes scales, pectoral fins and large worn eyes. A drawn wire [diameter 4.55 mm] loop is inserted at the tail end for suspension, with corrosion around the mouth suggesting it passed through the body. Shiny silver patina. The bust is crudely depicted with the mouth appearing to have a duck-like beak. Possibly a modern touch piece or attempt at using a coin to stamp a motif into heated lead. The reverse is undecorated. The broken face is decorated with a central panel of lozenges with rectilinear recess at each side; only one and half of the lozenges have survived. The other face is undecorated. Mid-green patina.
