Complete ring made from plaited silver wire. Each strand of the plait consists of four wires, and (from the photo) each appears to be three-ply with the three wires tightly twisted together. The wires in each strand are parallel, though now distorted. The sides of the ring are not straight; they are C-shaped in cross-section, with the exterior of the ring convex and the interior concave. A gold annular ring with spiral rope motif probably dating to the medieval period, c.AD1200-1500. The annular ring is sub-rectangular in cross-section with a flat reverse. Along the reverse are short longitudinal etches. In the centre of the annular frame is a flat, gold foil with a central circular perforation. The ring exterior is decorated with a central longitudinal band that runs around the entire circumference of the ring. No joint is visible. The copper alloy is a mid-greyish-green colour, and it is heavily pitted. The ring measures 23 mm in diameter and weighs 6.29 g.
