An incomplete late Roman buckle, approximately half survives. Weight 4.04g, length 30.6mm, incomplete width 14.8mm, maximum thickness of frame 3.7mm, thickness over the hinge loop (diameter of hinge loop) 6.5mm. This buckle had an oval or D-shaped frame, forming a penannular loop, of oval cross-section. The break is worn and covered with the same mid-green patina that is present over the rest of the artefact. A lead artefact of uncertain date. This is probably a weight to weigh goods with but may have been used as a small plumb-bob or weight to tension a cord or material instead.
