Two pieces of later 19th century to 20th century clay pipe stem from the same location.
The first (top one in image) is a fragment from a claw design where the bowl is in the form of an egg being grasped by an eagle's claw. This fragment is part of the stem where the scale like design represents part of the eagle's leg. The eagle's claw design is typical of pipes produced c1870-1920+, (and especially c1890-1920+).
The second (lower one in image), was made by Charles Crop of London, one of the premier manufacturers of the period. The business was founded in 1855…
