A complete, cast, copper-alloy strap-end dating to the Early Medieval Period (AD 770-1050). Description: The strap end has a triangular split end with two rivet holes. The attachment end is defined by a pair of faded engraved transverse grooves on the front, which are echoed by three before the terminal. The strap-end tapers gradually between the two sets of grooves. At the attachment end there are four flattened V shaped lines with two connecting straight lines either side. Description: the object is flat and circular in plan with a raised concentric ridge midway through the plate. In the centre of the plate is a sub-circular aperture with a raise edge. All the way round the outer edge of the plate are twenty-two irregularly spaced, stamped ring and dots. A worn, complete, cast, copper-alloy, casket key dating to the Medieval period, (AD 1150-1400). Description: The bow is circular with a sub-circular aperture; below the bow at the top of the shank there is a bi-conical collar. The shank is of flattened sub rectangular cross-section with a projecting stem-tip and a simple bit with two small raised clefts. The surface of the key has a deep green patina. In the centre of the bezel are three evenly spaced pellets in a triangular arrangement. The shoulders of the hoop have a narrow, bi-conical collar.
